Chasing an elusive concept

Hi there - and thank you for visiting this site.

I am a photographer living in Llandeilo, a scenic and ancient hillside town overlooking the Towey River in  West Wales.

I am driven by a passion to capture the beautiful landscapes of West Wales - the coasts, mountains, rivers and waterfalls - and to try and give meaning to that enigmatic Welsh concept hiraeth, a word that defies English translation or explanation.

Which Era - Film, Digital, or Phone?

So, the images below cover many decades and different technologies; the earliest was taken in 1972. Today's processing tools are so good that it is often difficult to identify the source technology.

In the case of images captured on film, the original negative was processed with a relatively inexpensive scanner that was simply an extension to a desk-top printer.

Various camera phones were used - the most recent being an iPhone 14.

All images were processed using Adobe Lightroom CC.
